The Alliance's "Code of Ethics for Breed Placement Groups" was adopted by the membership in the fall of 1997. The Code provides a set of high-quality animal care and placement standards for purebred rescuers, both private and club-sponsored. The Code covers general aspects of purebred dog rescue operation, including animal care, adoption, and interorganizational/interpersonal relations.

Only current Alliance members have the opportunity to sign onto the Code. The Alliance Grievance Committee reviews written grievances against Code of Ethics signers.
